Steven Henry (né D’Amico) began his picture book illustration career in 2004 with the award-winning Ella the Elegant Elephant (Scholastic), which was followed by three sequels and a Disney Jr. animated TV show based on the series. From 2008 to 2018, he illustrated eleven more books, including Welcome to Morningtown (Bloomsbury, 2020), Something Smells! (Atheneum, 2018), Herbert’s First Halloween (Chronicle, 2017), and It’s Raining Bats & Frogs (Macmillan, 2015).
In 2017, Steven became Art Director at Committee for Children, where helped develop and market their Second Step K-12 SEL curriculum. In 2025, he left CFC to re-establish himself as a children’s book writer and illustrator.
