Julie Benbassat

Julie Benbassat is an illustrator and avid sketcher based in New Jersey. Her work highlights her love of the natural world, fascination with the unknown, and deep appreciation for the mythical and the classical. Since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019 Julie has created illustrations for the New York TimesThe New Yorker, and NPR among others. She is the illustrator of The Screaming Hairy Armadillo and 76 Other Animals with Weird Wild Names (Workman, 2020). When she’s not creating art, Julie can be found watching bad (but good) horror movies.
