Jared Chapman grew up in Texas, but not near any towns you might have heard of. As a kid, he enjoyed drawing, reading, and chasing cows. That sounds like a joke but it isn’t. After college, Jared worked as an animator; then, he started making books. His author-illustrated projects include Seals Are Jerks (Scholastic), T. Rex Time Machine (Chronicle), Steve, Raised by Wolves (Little Brown), and Vegetables in Underwear (Abrams), in addition to his illustration projects, which include Monty and the Mushrooms (Simon & Schuster) and Curious Crab and Salty Snail (HarperCollins). Keep an eye out for Jared’s forthcoming early graphic novel series, Sam & Steg, to publish with Candlewick.
