Holley Maher

Holley Maher is a Nashville-based illustrator, and the artist behind the stationery brand Wink Wink Paper Co., for which she was named one of the top creative stationers in Middle America. Holley’s experience as a brand designer and editorial art director lends her an unusually broad visual vocabulary, though her work is unified by bright colors, cheeky humor, and scenes brimming with discoverable details.

In P is for Perimenopause: The ABCs of a Hormonal Hellscape (The Collective Book Studio), Holley’s fashion-forward ink-and-pastel illustrations lend a wobbly attempt at sophistication to this humorous gift book about the chaos and absurdity of perimenopause, which (she feels) fits the bill.

In the interactive Little Kid, Big City series (Quirk Books), young readers lead their own adventures through discoverable destinations in New York City and London, complete with fold-out maps for plotting IRL or imaginary escapades.

A “weird kid” at heart, Holley draws inspiration from fantasy novels, games, textiles, midcentury movie-musicals, and all things spooky-ooky. The Strega Nona books by Tomie dePaola are especially cherished in her Italian-American household.
