Writers House was founded in 1973 with a vision for a new kind of literary agency, one that would combine a passion for managing a writer’s career with an integrated understanding of how storytelling works. Not long after, Writers House established a children’s division, becoming one of the first full service literary agencies committed to representing kids’ books. In the early 1980s, we started representing artists. Our agents are devoted to discovering new talent, cultivating illustrators’ strengths and ideas, and actively making publishers aware of their work. We are adept at working with artists to develop author-illustrator projects, as well as representing their illustration deals for manuscripts written by others and brought to our attention by editors and art directors. With a wide-ranging list of illustrators, we have developed expertise in all facets of the business, including (but not limited to) picture books, graphic novels, cover art and interior illustration.
